KOM Networks' OptiServer® Software Now Supports Compaq's OpenVMS V7.3 on VAX and AlphaServer Platforms

KOM Networks, a leading innovator of storage virtualization and data management software, today announced that its optical data storage software – OptiServer® now supports Compaq Computer Corporation's OpenVMS V7.3 operating system for VAX and AlphaServer Systems.

OptiServer® for Compaq's OpenVMS operating environments brings the accessibility, convenience and functionality of hard disk drives to optical storage. OptiServer® seamlessly integrates into the operating system, and users and applications are completely unaware that they are accessing and storing data on optical disk drives. OptiServer® transparently optimizes the user's operating system and uses the existing file system, applications and other familiar functions; allowing users to continue to apply standard system utilities and commands to data storage operations.

Compaq's OpenVMS software is a general-purpose, multi-user operating system with 20 plus years of proven performance, and the recent release of Compaq's OpenVMS V7.3 operating system continues to provide customers with enhancements in reliability, scalability and performance. In addition, Compaq's OpenVMS operating system provides enhanced security and system management functionality, as well as the infrastructure needed to support eBusiness applications.
