KOM Networks announces support for Plasmon's expanded G–Series UDO Libraries

KOMworx® to Leverage Gx libraries Highly Scalable Storage Solution for Compliance & Archival Needs

Ottawa ON, Canada – June 21, 2005
KOM Networks, a global leader in Compliance, Archiving and Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) solutions, announced today support for Plasmon's G-Series UDO libraries within its KOMworx suite of products. Customers using KOMworx can transparently migrate their existing data to the new libraries that offer increased capacity, extended media longevity and a low total cost of ownership.

KOMworx provides policy-based, dynamically managed software storage solutions that help a wide range of organizations archive, access and protect their digital assets across multiple storage devices and operating platforms. KOMworx consolidates the diverse storage devices into common resource pools to help simplify storage management and ensure policy based automated data migration. KOMworx extends simplified storage management to third party applications such as E-mail archiving, Electronic Content Management (ECM) and Document Management Systems (DMS) as well as healthcare and financial applications.

"We are pleased to have KOM Networks add the Gx Series UDO libraries to their supported device list, since we are confident of the value this will add to our mutual customers' solutions. The Gx Series' highly scalable capacity matches well with KOM Networks' compliance and archival solutions," said Dave DuPont, SVP Sales and Marketing for Plasmon. "The new libraries offer a low total cost of ownership by delivering higher capacity and unmatched data longevity".

KOMworx adaptive design enables customers to combine various storage technologies, including hard disk and UDO, into a single global namespace. The global namespace is dynamically scalable to meet the changing compliance regulations customers are faced with. KOMworx additional capabilities such as e-WORM (WORM on magnetic hard disk) and e-WORM++ (Hard disk performance and WORM permanence including UDO), deliver unmatched data protection to meet the most stringent regulatory requirements.

The G-Series libraries provide a range of options, including highly scalable capacity of 720 GB to 19TB and attractive features such as dual pickers and hot/warm swappable drives. KOM Networks customers are able to leverage their existing optical investment by continuing to access all their data written on previous generation optical media—the Plasmon G-Series supports both the UDO and the MO Rewritable WORM media in the same library.

"The highly scalable capacity, better recording technology and longer media life of Plasmon's new G-Series libraries and UDO media address the growing needs of our enterprise customers," said Dr. Shaath, Chief Executive Officer of KOM Networks. "KOMworx with its industry leading compliance, archiving and ILM solutions combined with Plasmon UDO libraries provide the best of breed professional class data archival solution", Dr. Shaath added.
